All riders will be treated to an energizer station, from 7:30 to 9am at the Cox Hall roundabout (Location Map).

At the energizer station you will find:

• Other cyclists that you can connect with.

• Coffee, juice, bagels, and fruit.

• Free bicycle adjustments and advice from Bicycle South.

• Free tail lights (supplies are limited - Thanks CCTMA!).

• Bike Trains of riders originating from points around metro Atlanta. If you are not comfortable riding alone join one of the trains! We need more train leaders! If you are interested in leading a train please contact us HERE.

Bike To Work day is the best day of the year to try cycling to Emory. The spring weather is beautiful and there are always fewer cars on the roads following commencement. Even if you do not ride regularly, we urge you to dust off your bike and give it a try.

Emory’s first FixIt Station is conveniently available 24/7 with tools to perform basic repairs and maintenance. From changing a flat, to adjusting brakes, or simply adding some air, the FixIt is there when you need it.

The FixIt Station is located near the Rollins bike racks just past the motorcycle parking area.

All cyclists are welcome to use the FixIt whenever your bike needs a quick fix.

Your bike will be securely stored and when you pick up your bike up in the fall your bike will be:

• wiped down,

• the chains will be lubed,

• and tires will be inflated.

1. Send us a Picture: If you see a bike rack that is over flowing, snap a picture and send it to info@bike.emory.edu, post it to our facebook page, or send it to our twitter account @bikeemory. Don’t forget to tell us where it is and when you took it.

2. Volunteer to Count Bikes: Next Tuesday and Wednesday we are going to be performing counts of bicycles in racks. We need a minimum of 5 volunteers for each shift (10AM and 2PM). Volunteers will be assigned to one of five campus zones and will walk (or ride) around campus and count bikes parked in racks. Overflowing racks will also be noted. To sign up for a shift go HERE.

We will compile the data that you helped gather to make a case for immediate improvements to bicycle parking access at Emory.

Bike Count season is back! Atlanta is a big city with people commuting from various locations. The significance of collecting bike count data is simple. Bike counts help us obtain data on the number of cyclists on our city’s streets, which serves as the backbone for a slew of policy and fund-raising work all focused on making our streets safer for cyclists.

The need: We need help in capturing data at the locations we’ve identified on this Google Map.

Each location needs at least **two people **to conduct counts one day every shift (each shift can have different people) during our 2 week bike count period from **Wednesday April 17th to Wednesday May 1st. **

Here are the steps for how you can help capture data:

1. Check out this Google Map of important locations

2. Check here to see what location/time slot is available.

3. Check your schedule and see what works best for you. You can conduct counts at your preferred location(s) on any day (Monday through Saturday) from April 17th to May 1st.

• Note: AM/PM shifts are for weekdays. Weekend shifts are available on Saturday from 12:pm - 2:00 pm.

Emory Spokes Council is starting a weekly bike ride on Thursdays at 8:00 p.m.

Rides will be leisurely paced and welcome to all cyclists.

Bike Emory Group Ride: Bike Emory will lead a short (4 miles) and slow group ride to meet up with the larger Decatur group ride. We will depart from the Dobbs University Center at 10:00 AM. The return ride from the capitol will depart at approximately 12:30 PM. Note: The return ride will not have a police escort. If you interested in riding please email Jamie.

Wear your Emory gear, shirts or whatever you have to let everyone know that Emory is well represented!

This is a great event - over 1400 riders and more than 40 area mayors and elected officials attended last year’s ride. This event supports bicycle advocacy efforts in Georgia. Last year Georgia Bikes!, other advocates and elected officials helped get Ga DOT to pass a Complete Streets policy to “routinely incorporate bicycle, pedestrian, and transit (user and transit vehicle) accommodations into transportation infrastructure projects as a means for improving mobility, access, and safety for the traveling public.” So join local elected officials and ride to the state capitol in support of better bicycling in Georgia!

Join us ABC and Bike Emory for this special monthly Commuter Breakfast (ABC hosts them every first Thursday of the month). Stop by anytime between 7am-9am at Rise and Dine in Emory Village for coffee and conversation with fellow commuters and ABC members. Very casual, wear whatever you commute in. Great way to meet current bike commuters to see who’s doing it, and find out more, or connect with other riders.
