News: Emory Named “Silver” Level Bicycle Friendly University

BFU Silver Seal

Today Emory was named a Silver Level Bicycle Friendly University (BFU) by the League of American Bicyclists! This is an increase in the rankings for Emory as we were previously awarded a Bronze level designation in 2011.

Emory is now one of only two Silver-level or higher BFUs in Georgia and joins a cutting-edge group of colleges and universities across the United States transforming their campuses and the communities around them. There are 68 other Universities at the Silver BFU level or higher and a total of 164 BFUs in 44 states and Washington, D.C.

Emory will receive detailed feedback from the League of American Bicyclists on our application in December when we will learn about which advancements were recognized and our opportunities to improve.

For now this is a moment to celebrate. Thank you to all of the wonderful student, faculty, and staff cyclists and cycling advocates at Emory. This award would not have happened without your passion, advocacy and support. We will follow up soon on an event to celebrate!
