News: GA Rides to the Capitol (From Emory) Today!
Today over 1,000 cyclists from the metro Atlanta region will descend on Georgia’s Capitol to rally for better conditions for cycling. Bike Emory will also lead a group ride to connect with riders on the Decatur route.
Police-escorted rides will depart from Decatur and Roswell with area mayors and public officials from the region. During the 7th annual “Georgia Rides to the Capitol” event, cyclists will embark on rides to the Capitol in order to raise support for: 1) The implementation of a statewide Complete Streets policy, which will ensure that future road projects in Georgia meet the needs of all road users, including cyclists; 2) Protections for the legal rights of cyclists; and 3) Securing a fair share of dedicated funding for bicycle facilities and infrastructure.
Bike Emory Group Ride: Bike Emory will lead a short (4 miles) and slow group ride to meet up with the larger Decatur group ride. We will depart from the Dobbs University Center at 10:00 AM. The return ride from the capitol will depart at approximately 12:30 PM. Note: The return ride will not have a police escort.
Wear your Emory gear, shirts or whatever you have to let everyone know that Emory is well represented!
