News: Emory Selected as Bicycle Friendly University
Yesterday Emory was been named as one of the first twenty universities to be selected as a national Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists. The Bicycle Friendly University program recognizes colleges and universities that create exceptional environments where bicycling can thrive and provides a roadmap and technical assistance to create great campuses for bicycling. Emory was one of only three universities to be selected on the East coast and one of only two to be selected in the Southeast.
This award is a significant honor and demonstrates, on a national level, that Emory is committed to supporting cycling as a healthy transportation choice. The League noted in their press release that the “incentive programs for students and staff to ride at Emory University,” among other accomplishments, are what made us stand out.
We are very honored to receive this recognition from the League but our work is far from over. We look forward to receiving the League’s feedback on our application and using it as our new starting line as we improve upon our accomplishments.
