News: How to Use an Electronic Bike
The 1762 Clifton building is the test site for Fuji’s electronic pedal-assist bicycles.
Bike Emory has installed the prototype fleet and they are now available for check out. The bikes, which operate on a battery pack, are stored in the charging station in the lobby of Plaza 1000.
Any Emory faculty, staff or student can test out a pedal-assist bike — a free rental includes a lock — but the bicycles must be returned the same day to 1762 Clifton. Users will be asked to provide feedback to Fuji Bikes through a post-ride survey.
How to Use an Electronic Fuji Bike
Please Read Before First Use
1. Select a bike. Each bike is numbered on the rear of the bike.
2. Show your ID to Doniele Osbey at the 1762 Plaza 1000 front desk. Sign a waiver (first use only) and the policy document (first use only).
3. Get your key.
4. Insert the key into the battery on the left rear of the bike. Turn the key to the “ON” position.
5. Unlock your bike. Place your lock in the rear or front basket.
6. Wheel the bike outside.
7. Once you are ready turn the electric power on by pressing the switch on the right handlebar. The three lights should turn on to let you know that you have power.
* Green, Yellow, Red = Full Power
* Yellow, Red = 50% Power
* Red = Low Power
8. Pull back on the throttle on the right side of the handlebar next to the grip.
9. Begin to pedal. Power will be sent to the motor after a few seconds of resistance.
10. Once you arrive at your destination LOCK your bike and TURN THE KEY OFF and take the key with you.
11. Once you arrive back to 1762 return the bike to its original position. Please park the bike with its rear wheel in the rack.
12. Lock the bike, PLUG THE BIKE IN to the power cord and return your keys to Doniele.
REMEMBER: All bikes must be returned the same day ONLY to 1762 Plaza 1000. Bikes cannot be left overnight.
You will be sent a survey that will be used to provide data to FUJI on the performance of these prototype bikes. Please respond. Fuji provided these bikes for our use for FREE and in return only wants your feedback.
Thank you and enjoy!
