News: Bicycle Safety “Train the Trainers” Class

As part of Decatur’s Safe Routes to School Program, the Active Living Division will be conducting its first ever Bicycle Safety “Train The Trainers” Session at the Decatur Recreation Center on Thursday, February 26 from 6 to 8 PM.

There is room for 4 or 5 more folks and it’s free. It’s only two hours. We’re trying to build up a group of trained volunteers to help with the 4th grade Bicycle Safety Training Class that SRTS conducts at Glennwood Academy every year. We also want to create a core group of folks that perhaps can help offer the training at other venues during the year as well.

The class will be taught by the League of American Bicyclists certified League Cycling Instructor (LCI) Ms. Jyotsna Vanapalli who created this course and assisted with the Decatur SRTS Pilot Project. She knows her stuff!
