Bike Light Giveaway 2008

On Saturday, November 22nd Atlanta Bicycle Campaign volunteers and staff will give away bike lights to those who don’t have access to them. Bicycle lights are such an important safety item we want everyone to have them, especially during the winter months when it gets dark sooner.

Please sign up to help distribute and install lights, then participate in the ride along to demonstrate how necessary they are for nighttime riding.

REI and Free Flite Bicycles have generously donated bike lights, and we’ll be giving away ABC 3 feet blinkies as well.

Giveway locations will include
1. Sopo Bicycle Coop in East Atlanta Village
2. Atlantic Station (at location of bike valet service, to coordinate with Lighting of Atlantic Station)
3. Anywhere along the way we see cyclists riding blind!

We’re also going to host the inventor of the SpeedVest, Brady - in from out of town to help ABC educate drivers and cyclists alike on the importance of awareness and visibility for bike safety. Check out his invention (you’ll have to make your own for now if you want one) at speedvest.com.

This event will include a well-lit ride (lighting by you, our volunteers, on your own bikes) to demonstrate how bicycles should look at night. Get creative!

Ride Details:

Saturday, November 22nd
East Atlanta (Sopo) and Atlantic Station
Time: 3:30-5:30 at Sopo
Ride leaves from Sopo at 5:30 for Atlantic Station, where we’ll give away the remainder.
